Patton died in a one car accident in Germany, as I recall. Maybe Mauldin killed him. : )

In the military, Mauldin met Patton and thought he was a huge asshole. He did a cartoon in the military newsletter called Satrs and Stripes. Patton took offense to one strip. Patton hated and undermined Mauldin for the rest of his life.
