Saving Private Lynch

The Iraqi man who tipped U.S. Marines to the location of American POW Jessica Lynch said Thursday he did so after he saw her Iraqi captor slap her twice as she lay wounded in a hospital.

"A person, no matter his nationality, is a human being," the tipster, a 32-year-old lawyer whose wife was a nurse at the hospital, said in an interview at Marines' headquarters, where he, his wife and daughter are being treated as heroes and guests of honor.

I heard a report this morning that this man made several six-mile trips back and forth between the hospital and US Marines in order to draw more detailed maps and gather more information, including sneaking into Lynch's room and telling her "not to worry."

The same reporter had heard that the Iraqis were going to amputate her leg. Have no idea if this is accurate or not. How did she go from multiple gunshot and stab wounds to broken legs, back, and arm?

i'm sick of hearing about this story and seeing the retarded picture of her as she's being taken away on that stretcher. it's only a matter of time before "The Jessica Lynch Story" becomes a made-for-tv movie.

Forget the Jessica Lynch Hallmark Special, how many fucking "I was embedded with the troops and so now I'm a military genius" books are we going to see from journalists over the next few years? Bleh.

In related news, Michael Kelly of The Atlantic was killed in Iraq.
