I hope there isn't another Steve Bartman living in Chicago

I think the Cubs stink. They would not have won that game no matter what. They had plenty of chances and blew every one of them. I feel that the cub fans and players are too weak to admit when they have been beaten. Yaa blame one of your own fans for blowing the game. Take a look at yourselves. You really stink.
Joe 17 Oct 2003
steve is being blamed when the cubs themselves proved to be playing awful baseball.
margaret 17 Oct 2003
If anyone was in that seat and saw a foul ball----that's right, a "FOUL BALL" coming right at you, you would be looking up in the air with your arms up trying so hard to catch that FOUL BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!COME ON!!!!!!! You really think at that very second you would be doing anything else?? If your looking up in the air, how the hell would you see a player coming at you--let alone a player trying to catch a ball behind the rail! What about the other five people trying to catch it !!!!!!! How come nobody is giving them crap!!?? BACK OFF EVERYONE, you would of done the same thing!
cub fan 17 Oct 2003
I am shocked that the media has let the identity of this poor guy out! His name, address, work address and phone number?????!!!!!! I feel so bad for him. His life is changed forever! Doesn't anyone care about that? Put yourself in his shoes right now. All he did was try to catch a FOUL BALL!!!Come on! That would be anyone's natural reaction!!!! If you saw a foul ball coming right at you, you would have your arms up also,---trying so hard to catch it!!! You think he saw that player coming at him?!This had nothing to do with the Cubs losing.Come on Cub fans, give the guy a break!
Cubby Girl 17 Oct 2003
To Steve--Don't worry, so many people are on your side.We all would have done the same thing! It is totally a natural reaction!I feel so bad that all this is happening to you. I am so angry that are own fans could be so mean one of our devoted fans.I really am sorry that you have to deal with all this drama. Please don't blame yourself. I hope everyone will move on and realize that all this is not your fault. I wish you well.
Bella 17 Oct 2003
Bartman did what every other cubs fan would have done.
Give him a "Break"
The Marlins won!
Next?
Monica 17 Oct 2003
I am a die hard Cubbies Fan and I live in Florida. I feel very sorry for Steve, as was said already, anyone would have done the same thing. If it gets to bad in Chicago Steve, move here to Florida! The weather is great and you can still cheer the Cubs to next years World Series!
Kim 17 Oct 2003
can anyone in the united states spell?... "would of".... "your" all dumb...
joe canadian 17 Oct 2003
Steve I hope you learned to keep your hands to your self, it is true that anyone else would of done the same thing as you did BUT they didn't you did and for that you will have to live with that for the rest of your life , I do feel it cost us the game because if you had not done that our shortstop would not of been trying to turn two because he would of not needed to, I know it's not your fault but I would not want to be in your shoes and live the life you have brought on yourself.
Tom 17 Oct 2003
Its unfortunate that a guy is luck enough to get a great seat at a great game and his life is changed forever. The media needs to leave him alone and ALL Cubs fans need to realize that he didn't lose the game for us! The Cubs lost the game for us! I am a Die Hard Cub fan, and have been all my life. Put yourself in his shoes.. He doesn't deserve this. My advice to him though, get out... You don't need or deserve the abuse...
Ryan 17 Oct 2003
I find the behavior of the Cubs' fans toward Steve Bartman to be pathetic and disgraceful. I'm certain that NO ONE feels worse about the Cubs having lost the series than he, and it's quite truethat ANYONE would have done exactly the! As a lifelong BOSOX fan, I too am crying this morning. A CUBS-RED SOX WORLD SERIES would have been good for baseball, and our country...let's all pray for next year!
Dennis 17 Oct 2003
Hello, there were like 12 hands reaching out for that ball, and even so, who says that it would have been caught by the team. What-ever, I think everyone should just leave that poor guy alone. Also, you know if you were in that same spot at that same moment you would have reached for the ball as well, its natural instinct to either block it or catch it if its coming straight for you. Anyways, Go MARLINS!!! They are a young team who’s kicking A**!!!!!
lea 17 Oct 2003
Steve Bartman may as well move to Florida, or better yet Afganistan. Good riddance!!!!!!!!!
Jason 17 Oct 2003
to steve, hang in there buddy.you didnt do anything that doesn't happen at every other game no matter how important. it could be worse, you could have CAUGHT the stupid ball!
william 17 Oct 2003
u guys are all gay leave him alone. all u guys should just be yankee fans.....if u were then none of this would have happened. steve yur a good man in my mind and go yanks baby
john 17 Oct 2003
Steve Bartman has done something that will never truly be forgotten, especially by him. At first I was outraged cussing at the T.V. I even think I flipped him off but after it was all over and I came back to my senses I realized that was a natural reaction and if it wasnt him then it would have been any one of the three rows of fans that were reaching. I feel empty inside because they lost but I have never felt whole because they have never won. Go CUBS 2004 is our year.
nolan 17 Oct 2003
Oh my God! I cannot believe we are still talking about this. Who cares that he tried to catch a "foul ball". The players on the field are paid big bucks to win baseball games, and that is what the Marlins did. They never gave up. Period!
Maria 17 Oct 2003
Cub Fans are idiots for saying that it was this Steve Bartmen's fault who cost them the World Series. Being a Die Hard Braves fan the Marlins simply out played them. That foul ball did not cause a run so get over it. Cub fans suck. If the cubs where that good they should have stayed focused and not of made any errors. They should have one the game no matter what happen.

-Cubs hat
-Headphones
-Black jackets
-Glasses
-tape trash and beer mugs onto hat
-Bloody nose

Cubs fans are stupid, you know that they will all blame steve for the loss. that was only game 6 what happened in game 7 with their ace on the mound. it does not really matter if the cubs would have won, the cubs fans would have started riots in chicago and looted businesses. they ought to thank steve for the insurance rates not going up. ask any chicago police officer if they would of wanted to be working the night the cubs would of won. the cubs had 50 other chances to win that series and they did not. if the cubs would have won alot of the so called cub fans would not be cub fans next year.the joy of rooting for the underdog would of been gone. cub fans like to lose so thank steve for allowing yourselves to still root for the cubs!!!!!!!

remember people this is only a baseball game not life and death. i sure that people who are in life and death situations could care less about a foul ball. baseball is not serious enough to try and ruin someones life over.
jerry 17 Oct 2003
steve, if your feeling the heat in chicago you can always leave the country. virtually nowhere outside the US plays, or gives a crap about baseball. WORLD series my arse.

This guy did what every fan would have done. I think that some disgruntled Cubs fans are using Steve as a scapegoat. If I were Steve I'd resume my normal life, because he did nothing wrong. Instead of condemning the poor guy, why don't you empathize with him. Put yourselves in his position and ask yourselves if you would have done the same thing. I guarantee that if you're honest with yourselves, you'll be a little more sympathetic to this die-hard Cubs fan !

I think moving to Florida would be a great idea, asshole. They have cable down there,so You can still wacth the CUBS from afar. You are barred from every bar in Wrigleyville! Please take I-57 south to I-55 to the Coast. Turn left or right on I-10. Idios!
Kevin Nelson 17 Oct 2003
I am a bartender on the East Side, and I can tell all of you one thing.........Steve Bartman will never be served in any bar around here. He has to move NOW!!!!!!!! Baseball is about momentum and his dumb ass caused us to lose the momentum, the game, and the series!!!!!!! Does this sound familiar, "Wait till next year!" I'm f*#*ing tired of waiting till next year!!!!
Jason 17 Oct 2003
People always bring up the curse of the Bambino and the curse of the Goat...but they are not aware of another little curse. Yup, that is the curse I placed as a Pirate fan over the damn Braves!!!! When the Pirates lost to the Braves in the final game of the 1992 NCLS, I cursed Atlanta and said they would not win a World Series ever gain. For 12 seasons now, they have managed to make it to the playoffs only to get their butt eliminated! muahahahahha..my curse has worked like magic, except for that one year when they beat the Indians, but who cares. No one is perfect. Hey, give it a few years and it will grow to be a curse of Cubbie or Bosox proportions.
Brave8er 17 Oct 2003
Steve Bartman did the right and proper thing. He went for a ball that was hit into the seats. A remarkable keepsake from his team which was leading the game at that point. Any good Cub fan would have done the same thing. Those that now complain are bed wetters, unmatured children, unable to look at the fact that the game is played on the field, not in the stands.
The Cubs lost to a "team" not to a collection of individuals, but men who do not give up....not ever. So learn the lesson!
Tom Quinn 17 Oct 2003
The Cubs had many chances to win this series and the fans choose to blame one individual??? Unbelieveable....The Cubs lost this series when they lost Game 1 to 3 home runs to the Marlins in one inning. Sure, it was magical to watch Sammy hit a bomb with two outs in the last inning, but they finally succumbed in that game and gave the Marlins the belief they could win, no matter what the score or the inning. They did the same thing to the heavily favored Giants.
This game is about momentum and the marlins caught it and never let go. There was no doubt in my mind that the Marlins would win game 7 after winning game 6 in the manner that they did. Cue back to last year's world series....the same thing happened to the Giants late in game 6. Sure they had a chance to win game 7, but that was merely a formality. The series was won when they won game 6.
Stop blaming a guy who had great seats, but horrible hands. Whoever harms him should get another job as Saddam's right hand man, cause he is lower than any individual we call an American.
Game over...wait until next year....deal with it.....
Patrick 17 Oct 2003
First, I feel sorry for Steve Bartman and all of the CUBS fans. This was an unfortunate situation and we will never really know what COULD HAVE, SHOULD HAVE or WOULD HAVE happened. It is now part of our history and cannot be erased. As for "Joe Canadian" and his comment listed above - You can keep your pompous statements to yourself and no one is forcing you to watch UNITED STATES baseball!!!
lsugrad 17 Oct 2003
Speaking from someone living in Kansas City that has an unbiased opinion, I think and the rest of the country thinks that you Cubs fans that are blaming Steve Bartman for your TEAM losing the series are idiots. This guy did NOTHING wrong. Shame on you fans that threw things at him as he left the game fearing for his life. Shame on you losers that made threats to this poor man's life. Remember this guy has family and friends just like you. Quite blaming this man for the loss and start taking it like Men. It is good to see that some Cubs fans are reasonable and realize that it is not Steve's fault. To you fans that are still blaming him.....well you are one step below raider fan! Go Chiefs!!!
Dave 17 Oct 2003
Steve-It's Scott Culbertson from your h.S. Notre Dame 94, You were in my Kairos group. Anyway, I felt bad about what happened but this is crazy. Your taking the wrong outlook on this. I'd say bring it on! Sue the balls off anyone that even tries to do some dumb shit. Get on every talk show like Howard stern, Jimmy Kimmel and so on and use it to your advantage instead of hiding. Cause after a while anyone who still holds you to this is gonna look like an idiot. If you need an agent look me up and make some $$$$$ off this. Take care bud!
SCulbertson 17 Oct 2003
You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Leave Steve alone! If I were a Cubs fan, I would be ashamed to admit it. I wouldn't want to be associated with any group who treats another human being the way that you guys have. I wish that each of the "evil" Cubs fans had a chance to be in his position. I would love to see what your reaction would have been when you saw a foul ball coming to you! I'm sure that the majority of you would have tried catching it just as Steve had done. More power to you, Bartman! I wish you would have caught the ball!
Jaysmom 17 Oct 2003
Dearest Steve,
I know you’re in a tough spot right now. Every Chicago Cubs fan and his fat, Polish sausage-eating mother is pondering the idea of stringing you up from the highest lamppost in town for interfering with a foul ball in the decisive eighth inning of Tuesday’s Marlins-Cubs game. You’ve earned your place in history and in the damnations of beer-swilling Chicago sports fanatics who are, as we speak, likely plotting your demise. Now that Game 7 is in the books and you’ve become a horribly ironic symbol of the Cubs fans’ 95 year loyalty to losing, what’s next for you?
How about suicide?
Yes, suicide may be your only path, Steve, because what the Cubs faithful, myself included, are liable to do to you will be infinitely worse than any death, swift or otherwise, you could possibly dream of inflicting upon yourself. Unless you know the number for Osama’s realtor, you had better start stretching your jaws in preparation for suckling the Cobain-end of a double-barreled brain evacuator – and right quick.
Trust me on this: you must die.
You probably think that sucks, and I’m sorry I have to be the one to break the news, but by doing so, I’m sparing you from living the rest of your life on the lam, eating beans from rusty cans and selling your Notre Dame-schooled boy-cherry for half-eaten lettuce heads and methadone. The streets are no place for a nancy, 26 year-old business consultant who, at first glance, appears like he might have leukemia, cancer, or any of those terminal illnesses for which Ziggy solicits quarters at checkout counters. Hell, even the game announcers initially defended you because they thought you were a little kid who had come to the park with his folks to watch the game -- surely no grown man could be so severely retarded as to interfere with his own team’s success during their most successful postseason in 95 years. Right?
RIGHT?
Fuck, I was trying to be nice about this, but the fifteen beers I’ve been alternately chugging and crying into for the last two hours are beginning to take effect. My head is swirling with ideas about how I could personally relieve you from the nightmarish existence that your bumbling hands have made reality, but my lawyer specifically warned me against making direct threats on your life. And, in all honesty, I’m not a violent person. I’ve seen plenty of death footage, but I just don’t have the experience or wisdom to properly torture you for days without accidentally killing you or putting you into shock. What a shame it would be if you were to pass out or die only hours into our torture session and not feel any pain.
Instead, I’ve got a better idea, more suited to my God-given abilities: you, Steve Bartman, will star in a porno. I’ve already got the theme worked out. You will be tied naked to a block of red bricks with ivy growing on them, and 95 of the largest, hairiest, most well-hung men in Chicago will sodomize you one-by-one with the blunt instrument of their choosing (baseball bats, preferably, but creativity will be encouraged). They will all be wearing Cubs uniforms and metal cleats, and when they grow weary of sodomizing you (or when the internal bleeding becomes life-threatening), they will each then deliver one swift, brutal kick to your groin. If our panel of judges, Moises Alou, me, and the ghost of Harry Carey feel that the kick wasn’t brutal enough – perhaps he didn’t get a full extension, or slipped and tore the back of your knee open accidentally – he will be allowed a do-over. Don’t worry, they only get one do-over. After everyone is done, all we have to do is cut off your arms, cauterize the wounds, and then you’ll be allowed to walk the streets freely, knowing that you’ve paid your debt to Chicago and the baseball world in full.
Imagine the box cover: Steve Bartman stars in Foul Balls: How I Fucked the Cubs Fans, and They Fucked Me Back. It could be huge, Steve, but more importantly it’s the only way you’ll be allowed to live in a first world country without looking over your shoulder every five minutes. Partly because it will have been lopped off, but mostly because you will have taken your punishment like a real man – not the prissy, half-wit fuckchop whom the world witnessed limp-wristing a foul ball that should’ve put the Cubs one out closer to the end of nearly a century of fruitless hopes.
You took one from the team, Steve, and now it’s time to take one for the team. Drop those pants, motherfucker – this one’s going deep.
bartman slayer 17 Oct 2003
The important thing to remember is the situation, forget true fan, think SMART fan. You should always know the score, how many out's there are, who's on base, and where you are sitting! The hones, and more importantly the responsibility is placed squarely on the shoulders of the fan who seats are in PLAY. For those of you say that anyone would reach for the ball, I can honestly say that you are wrong. I would have tried my hardest ( given the SITUATION ) to get the hell out of the way, and to take anyone down with me. My thoughts are with steve and I hope his life can return to normal.

That e-mail from bartman slayer is sick and wrong. This sick person should be tracked down and prosecuted for terroristic threats and conspiracy to commit murder. In this day where we can track down someone sending a virus from across the world, I don't think it would be to hard to track this sick person down. Let's go after this guy and send a message that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

I am so amazed by some of the comments directed towards Steve! I bet ANY of you TRUE baseball fans would have done the same thing! Hell, if he had run out onto the field, and disrupted the play (like some other IDIOT Chicago fans I am thinking of) then he could have been blamed! The fricking ball was in the STANDS! GET OVER YOURSELVES! Leave him alone, he is innocent! If this was some moronic fan of the Marlins, then you could blame him. Heck, y'all oughta be sticking together!
As much I love baseball myself, there are bigger things in life, which are much more important. Life. Love. Health. Happiness. (Yes, winning that series would have made people happy, but COME ON, there is more to life!)
I happen to be a Mariner fan. I know, they bombed the last few months, but it was because of how they played, not because someone who PAID to watch the game did something questionable. Grow up, move on and leave Steve alone. Y'all have football.....well, wait......The Bears anyhow.

Maybe we cannot spell, but at least our country does not wait on the beck and call of another. Canada only exists because the U S of A protects its crappy little gay ass inhabitants. Do not be bitter because I cannot remember the last time that we had anything on our news aobut Canada, and you guys have to spend your lives listening to daily and nightly updates of what is happening in America. In fact, I heard that the only reason that the U.S. doen't sink into the ocean is because Canada sucks so much! And the last thing you can tell us about is Baseball. Before you try to gripe about us, put your Frenchies in Quebec in check. You are hands down the weakest western nation in existence.
And P.S: Bartman, your statement of being a lifelong Cubs fan, if it was true at the time, is and can no longer be true. You are not aCubs fan anymore and never will be. You are more dead to me than your dead mother. Do us ALL a favor and NEVER return to Wrigley. You will never be forgotton or forgiven, you little pansy-assed faggot.

bartman slayer, you are one sick bastard....I cannot believe you think someone should die, and the way you describe, because he attempted to catch a foul ball that he was entitled to.
I hope I echo the sentiments of others listed here...you will do us all a great service if you get alcohol poisoning and lay in a comatose state until someone knocks some sense into you. It takes a VERY shallow person to blame Mr. Bartman for the Cubs demise. I believe the curse does exist. How else can you blame the Sox collapse last night????
Grow up dude....Or better yet...chug a few beers and head out on a lonely road, late at night, lined with a lot of big trees...Even though you deserve it, I am ashamed at myself for even suggesting it....

All of the pathetic fools who have threatened this guy need to go out and get a job, or an education. Get off your asses and worry about something that matters. Because your silly little psuedo jock world does not matter. None of you are professional ball players (most likely not even first string on your co-ed softball team). So grow up, shut up and get some sort of life.

With so much drama in the left-field stands
Its kinda hard being Steve (last name Bartman)
But somehow someway
I keep pissing off Cub fans like every single day
May I catch a little something
From the team I grew up lovin'
I'm a fan so everything's chillin'
But I missed a foul ball so now I'm a villian
I got people wantin' to kill me so I'm hiding at home
And they keep callin' til 6 in the mornin'
So what I'm s'posed to do (shit)
I even got a death threat from Moises Alou!!
So turn off the Tv and shut off the lights
Cuz (cuz what) I dont like fistfights
I shouldn'ta touched the ball I guess
Then my life wouldn't be a big muthafuckin' mess
Sittin in the stands, shaggin foul balls, blowin' it for the Cubs
Dumb ass (with my mind on the ball and balls on my mind)
Pizzeace yizzall.....wizzait tizzil nizzext yizzear!!!

To "Dave" and "Ivette".... First of all, you are both fools. The letter that has so upset you is online. It was cut and pasted from consumptionjunction.com. You can view it by looking at yesterday's editorial.

Here's the deal on Bartman.... He's a fool, but he shouldn't be hurt. Instead, his picture should be posted on every wall in every bar in Chicago so we can talk about him for the next fifty years. Every once in awhile someone should show up outside Wrigley Field with an effigy of him and burn it. When the Cubs make the postseason, footage of "The Fan" should be played--in slow motion--at least three times. For the rest of his life this man has to deal with his incredibly stupid actions. Isn't that enough? I don't want any harm to be done to the man, but he should be made infamous.

I was thinking of dressing up as Steve Bartman for Halloween. I wonder how much candy I'll get....
I hate you steve bartman 17 Oct 2003
How does it feel, Steve Bartman, to know that you were the spark that sent millions of World-Series dreams up in flames? How does it feel to know that right now MILLIONS OF PEOPLE are wishing you would just move far, far away? Please.....leave Chicago. It's the least you can do to heal our pain.
why steve....why?...why? 17 Oct 2003
My son went to bed crying the other night. He asked me, "Daddy, why does Mr. Bartman hate the Cubs? Why did he do that?" I was speechless. I said nothing. I tried to comfort him as he cried himself to sleep... Thanks a lot Steven.
it's all your fault 17 Oct 2003
yes, lets pick on a man who probably makes a tenth of what anyone who plays for the cubs makes. Don't these guys get paid millions of dollars a year to hit and catch balls? If he was a thirteen year old boy would you say he should be killed and harrassed for simply catching a ball?
Remember it's just a game. There's too much hate in the world already. Lossen up!

---Ha! You think your story is bad.... My father is 79 years old. I don't know how much longer he'll be around... He told me his last wish was to see the Cubs play in the World Series! Now...because of Bartman, my old man might not live to see our glorious Cubs in the big game.
his last wish gone... 17 Oct 2003
The bottom line is that Steven Bartman is NOT thirteen years old. He is twenty-six! If he were three rows back I could understand. But ANYONE in that first row should have been looking out for a Cubs outfielder that was in hot pursuit of the ball! I don't think anyone seriously believes he should be killed. That's horrible. But he should NEVER, EVER, EVER be allowed in Wrigely Field again! He should officially renounce his membership as a Cubs fan. His actions were horrid. Urg. If this guy accepts that vaction they're offering him down in Florida.....people are going to be livid!
flawed logic 17 Oct 2003
GOD WILL HAVE MERCY ON YOU STEVEN BARTMAN, BUT UNTIL YOU MEET HIM I HOPE YOU THINK OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!
steve bartman, loser extraordinaire 17 Oct 2003
He wanted a souvenir? He already got a ball earlier. That is the bitch of it all. I'm gonna make up some t-shirts and make cash of this dumbazz. I'm gonna have his picture on the front, WANTED POSTER style. Then, on the back, I'm gonna put "Wrigleyville's Most Wanted". I will make TONS of $$$$$!!!!
Disgruntled Cub fan 17 Oct 2003
Wow. You all who threaten violence and seem so insenced about your precious Cubs losing really need a grip on reality. People are starving, and although in your pathetic mind, life is over, it's not. Get a life.
As for the idiot who's "dads" last wish it was to watch the Cubbies win the Big Game, tell him to become an A.L. fan and root on the Yanks.
Someone who's beginning to think Cubs fans are idiots. 17 Oct 2003
leave bartman alone, 40 000 fans in that stadium and it could have been anyone of you. let the guy get on with his life. the harrassment was funny for a bit, now it is stupid, he doesnt deserve this

No! Don't even say it "could have been any one" of us! I am not a fool, and realize that if you're that close to the line there's a chance your team might catch the ball. Remember Derek Jeter diving into the seats a few years ago against the A's????? The fans got out of his way because, say what you will about New Yorkers, they're smart fans! In 94 they even interfeared with the ball in order to HELP the Yanks! (Home run by Don Mattingly I believe) You need to be aware when such a play can hurt your team and when it could help. STEVE BARTMAN IS NOT A CUBS FAN!

Oops... I think 94 was the strike season. Correction: whatever year Donny made the playoffs. (his one and only time. Sadness.)
steve bartman ruined my life 17 Oct 2003
To,
Steve Bartman: Cubs killer.
I would just like to say, Mr. Bartman, that you single-handedly wrecked the spirit of an entire city, perhaps--dare I say it--an entire country! The ratings were through the roof for the playoffs this year because America wanted to see the Cubs/Redsox or Cubs/Yankees. Either one would have fulfilled your wildest baseball wet-dream. But, somehow, you and your stupid turtle-neck sweater had to ruin it all! Didn't YOU?! My stomache churned for hours after that loss, and with the game seven nightmare I was rewarded with the runs.... This season was a shining light in my sad, sad existence. (My job isn't very desirous) Anyway, thank you for squashing my hopes and dreams.
If I could turn back time.... 17 Oct 2003
I heard that Steve Bartman is going to throw out the first pitch of the Marlins first home game. Is that true? WHAT THE HELL!!!? Steve Bartman, say it ain't so....ohhhhhhh the agony!
I'm feeling faint... 17 Oct 2003
yes steve should be killed but only for the sole purpose that he is a cubs fan and all cub fans should be killed .

I think steve's punishment should be to have him run onto the football field after a Nebraska loss and have a player beat the hell out of him

It's funny how 3,000 people die in a terrorist attack and it unites a whole city (that's New York for you idoits who obviously have no life), but a man keeps another man from possibly catching a baseball and it divides the city (Chicago, for you idiots). Too bad it wasn't Osama trying to catch that ball, he would be dead for sure. For those of you who don't know who Osama is, put your beer down, get off your fat ass and find the front page of a newspaper (that's about 2 or 3 sections in front of the one you only read) and get a life!
Hay canaduh, fuk ewe.
Steve 17 Oct 2003
Yeah, that Bartman Slayer is one sick jackoff. He probably never ever played a baseball game in his life. His IQ is probably lower than the number of Cubbies who have been in a World Series the last hundred years. Let's track him down, and prosecute the bastard. Keep your head up, Bartman. The Cubbies will always be the Cubbies. Losers!
DickHead 17 Oct 2003
Hi Steve, a few of us thought we'd make it easier for you to catch a fly ball so we put some money together and bought you a glove 'cause it's gonna take a lot of "balls" for you to show your face around town.
Chico Escuela 17 Oct 2003
Steve,
If you read this, PLEASE take the offer from the Florida resort to stay there for 3 months free. They said they would pay for your meals, drinks, airfare, and taxi service. During this time you could look for a nice place to relocate and find a promising job offer. I am sure you can find a lot of friendly people there to help you. Eventually things will blow over and you will be "Safe at Home" again. I hope things work out well for you. God Bless You!

It seems that the whole Midwest/ Chicagoland area is prompting Mr. Bartman to his world of hurt. I lived in the Chicagoland area and always thought of us who lived there as better people than life-threatening ogres. The man fouled up, fessed up, and now he has to live with it for the rest of his natural life. We all make mistakes, and I'm sure you've had your real big mistakes. So please heed the old "Those who live in glass houses" theory. Afterall, I really do not recall seeing your names on Don Baker's Roster. Mr. Bartman, you have a home here in Indianapolis. Good luck with the movie deal, the prime-time interviews, Larry King, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brian, even the kid from Valparaiso show, and go on with your life. Show these ogres who wish you the worst that you are better than they are and can take being kicked when you're down. I am absolutely, positively certain that all these other people who wish you the worst for you and your family that they would have done the same thing in the heat of the moment. Let's all take a good in the mirror sometime and ask ourselves," Would we have done the same in that moment in time?" GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!

To Steve Bartman:
Steve being a Cubs fan seems like the most shallowest thing to want to be now.You are so much better than any one of them. Anyone who says anything negative about you has to use you to try to validate theirselfs as a human being .They dont even come close. Hold your head up leave that damn city and find a place that doesnt slaughter thier own for a FOUL BALL. Wish in a way it was one of their own kids for them to feel the pain. But i dont wish it on anyone. Kind of sad to even be associated with Chicagioans like this.I am not from this city but have no desire even if they win now to even want to be happy for them.I was rooting for Chicago and Boston .Steve dont ever stoop to the lowness these people have. You are a good person and I hope many many people come to rally for you in this time of pain in your life.Imagine a team that cant win a play off game and all it take is one man in the stands to upset 9 grown men on the field.Sad thing is none of the negative commenting people have a caring of life and what it means
Dan Rivers 18 Oct 2003
Apologies to to be given to Mr Bartman .He did nothing wrong. The stadium builders allowed him access to the ball .They could have built 15 foot chain link fences in front of the fans to not allow them to take part. Now that I have witnessed how very very shallow alot of people are I say dont allow them to be that close any more. My only hope is that Steve is given so much peace, money, and support from good people that he realizes that maybe just because he lives in Chicago that that city now needs to earn his respect and do something extra ordinary to show the rest of us that it may somedaybe a place some body would want to live in. Not me...
Dan Rivers 18 Oct 2003
What an unfortunate, tragic incident to have occured for Mr Bartman, who only wanted to see his beloved Cubs win! There is no doubt that anyone who sits on the first row at a ballgame, should be aware that a fielder may have a chance to catch a foul fly ball. In my opinion, the replay clearly shows that Moises Alou would have caught that ball. It would have been 2 out, & I do believe the outcome would have been different, at least for that inning.
That being said, the despicable actions, threats, curses, and hatred that was, & is being heaped on Steve by so-called 'fans' is just disgraceful. THIS WAS A BASEBALL GAME!! Not a matter of life and death. My family & I will continue to pray for the wellbeing for Steve & and his family. I only hope & wish that something good will come from this currently sad experience.

Well i agree we shouldnt blame Bartman for the loss
but arent we just as bad by lumping all Cub fans as beer throwing bad people.
Come on people if you were there in the middle of all that
you cant tell me you wouldnt have at first been booing Bartman cause your caught up in the moment.
Im not talking about the ones who made death threats but more along the lines of true life long cub fan.
Im just sick of people saying any fan would have tryed to catch the foul and then act like they wouldnt have been upset with Steve if they were there.
Its human nature. Heck i bet if those Cub fans had time to sit down and watch the replay and listen to all the commentary they wouldnt have booed either.
But it was the heat of the moment and we all do stupid things in the heat of the moment.
Yes they were wrong but that doesnt mean we should act like holier than thou hypocrites
Anyways it was just frigging ballgame.
The Ghost 18 Oct 2003
Bartman Slayer. I think that a person with issues as serious as yours obviously are should not be allowed to walk the streets let alone be present at Wrigley Field. You need some serious help.
Mark 18 Oct 2003
i can't think of one other person that wants the cubs to win tonight more than bartman does. for his sake, the cubs better win!
