Are there Tums in Heaven?

The bowling gods called a Michigan man home shortly after he rolled the third perfect game of his life. When he got up to bowl the next game, he clutched his chest and fell over.

I'm picturing him with a bratwurst in the other hand and a beer helmet.

(overheard at the gates of heaven: "BAH-buh-Bahh-bah")

A number of my woodcuts will be on display in a show called Little Utopias at the Heaven Gallery (1550 N Milwaukee ave., 2 fl, in Chicago's Wicker Park Neighborhood). The show's opening reception is on October 15th at 6pm, in conjunction with the Select 3 Media Festival.

On the night of the opening there's a suggested $10 donation for the festival itself (at 8pm that night). That donation will get you a DVD and a t-shirt. See the site for details.

I've updated my website with scans of images that will be featured in the show.

If you can't make it to this one, I will also be having a solo exhibition, with the same work, out in suburbia (Wheaton, Ill.) in November.

If you loved Ishtar

In the history of film, only rarely is a movie unanimously reviled. Well... the long delay that followed Showgirls is now over.

Presenting the film that only the free market could produce:
Superbabies / Baby Geniuses 2 starring Jon Voight and Scott Baio (!)

The critics rave:

  • "Most of the movie is set in the babies secret lair, which looks like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory as interpreted by the prom committee."
  • "Jon "I've Hit Rock Bottom and I Can't Get Up" Voight fashions a ridiculous German accent to play a goose-stepping media mogul."
  • "After starring in this movie, a Joanie Loves Chachi reunion special must look pretty good to Scott Baio. Even a Charles In Charge pot luck supper with Willie Aames's special brownies would be a better option than this."
  • "Features toddlers acting in a way collectors of velvet paintings will find irresistible."
  • "...lots of lame jokes where tots say stuff like “off the hook” and “da bomb.”
  • "It even has cameos from Whoopi Goldberg and O-Town."
  • "Whoever gave this the green light should be spanked."
Worst of all, this trainwreck is stinking up the genre for my script I hope to finish someday; Baby Vampires.
I'm kinda sorry I have no time to go see this!

While we're on the subject of hot dogs...... check out these weinners.

Evidently there's a Corndog Festival every year that includes Corndog Styling. I think I saw the "New York Dogs" live in my kitchen after a long night of drinking and eating pork snouts wrapped in corn sweaters.

German kids are whining for it!

Perfectly detailed, right down to the pulled up sleeves and groin bulge on the Michael Knight figure.

Shameless Self-Promotion

Have you ever wanted to immerse yourself in the creative, artistic vision of foot doctors? Come see the Scholl Family Art Show! My wife, Wika, and I will have artwork on display. The show is made up of various students, faculty, and their spouses from Dr. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, located at the corner of Oak and Dearborn.

The opening reception is on Friday October 5th from 3pm-6pm. Drinks and food will be served by fancy guys with bow ties.

If the art sucks, you will at least be able learn the history of Dr. Scholl and foot doctorin' in the Feet First museum which is in the adjacent room.

kaleidoscopy

I recently fished around for this URL so I could spend my unbillable time making pretty hypnotic patterns. It's an old applet but it's still good clean fun, even for Baptists.
