Huh. No wonder they're so pissed off.

Saudi Arabia: Awfully difficult to "tap that."

“I’d say that maybe 3 out of 10 nights of numbering,we have some success,” Fahad explained.

“You mean that 3 out of 10 nights you get a girl to talk to you?” I asked.

“No, no,” Fahad laughed. “Maybe 3 out of 10 nights we get one phone number. Getting a girl to actually talk to you on the phone is much rarer. But it happens, so we’re always hoping.”

Notice he didn't say "praying."

Bad Hair Day

Islamic fundamentalists believe that anyone who is martyred while killing infidels goes to paradise, where 72 virgins are promised to them if they shaved recently. It is suspected that Shaikh Mohammed gave himself up this weekend when he realized he'd never get his hands on enough razors for the job.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the alleged Sept. 11 mastermind, is seen shortly after his capture.

Why are Islamic states poor and extreme?

"To me, the answer seems simple: The predominately Christian nations have become more economically advanced, more globalized, which naturally leads to a more cosmopolitan outlook.
It's impossible to do business with people while slaughtering them, and it's pretty hard to do business with them while telling them that they'll burn in hell forever. Modern global capitalism has its faults, but religious intolerance isn't one of them.

The politically incorrect view of Islam seems to be gaining momentum. It would be naive to ignore in Islam a deep thread of intolerance toward unbelievers, especially if those unbelievers are believed to be a threat to the Islamic world.

There is obviously a sense in which the blame-Islam-first crowd is right, and Islam is part of the problem. The attitude of Islamic fundamentalistsan abhorrence of the non-Islamic worldconflicts with the logic of globalization, and something has to give. But if history is any guide, what will give in the end is reactionary religion, not technological progress. And the result will be, as it has been in the past, the evolution of a more humane, tolerant faith."

The Last Will and Testament of Mohammed Atta

This is the just-released will of Hijacker Mohammed Atta. If you haven't already, give it a read... that is, unless you are a pregnant woman or other unclean being.

Islam 101

This is a site which explains some of the basic priciples of Islam. An interesting read for someone like myself who is completely ignorant when it comes to religious stuff.

A Bit of Trivia: The Sears Tower and John Hancock building were designed by a Muslim.

Taliban-o-rific!

Everyone's favorite religious extremists are at it again. No, they're not blasting Buddhas anymore. That's so ancient history! They've decided to "kick it up a notch" and require non-Muslims to wear a "mark of distinction." Hmmm, can't say that's a terribly original idea, there Mullah...

"Under the decree, the Ministry of Vice and Virtue has made it mandatory for the Hindus to wear a yellow badge on their chests," he said.

Himat tried to cast the order in a favorable light, saying it was in response to demands from Hindus living in Afghanistan to be distinguished from Muslims.

"This order was issued on the demand of Hindus who were concerned all the time because the workers of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice would always ask them to grow a beard or go and offer prayers in the mosque," he said.

Of course! Those damned Hindus and their meddling requests!
