Ann Coultergeist: "Tight on time"
I missed this earlier this month (thanks, Defective Yeti). Adam Carolla had scheduled an interview with The Queen of Darkness, and apparently there was a phone number / scheduling mix-up. Hilarity ensues.
Carolla has always annoyed the crap outta me, but big ups for hangin' up on the fascist.
Penn Jillette's (of Penn & Teller) radio show is on Free FM (here in Chicago, that's 105.9, 1-2pm), but I typically catch it via the podcast, which is now the full show but without the commercials.
Yesterday's show title had me crackin' up: It's Very Hard To Remember That Clowns And Mimes Are Human Beings
The Federal Communications Commission is scheduled to vote this week to lift a ban on companies or individuals owning both a newspaper and a television or radio station in the same city. Led by its three Republican members, including Chairman Michael Powell (son of Secretary of State Colin), the commission will also most likely raise the television station ownership cap. That would allow media firms to own outlets that in total can reach 45 percent of the national audience, up from 35 percent now.
Instead of competing, firmly installed media simply legislate new ideas out of existence: ...royalty arrangements currentyly require Web-only music sites to pay record companies 14 cents per song, per listener. For broadcast radio stations who happen to stream their music over a Web site, the rates are half as much.
Over the past 3 months, Rush Limbaugh has quickly lost his ability to hear. He can still hear certain voices at certain frequencies, but figures that within a month he will be 100% deaf. Crazy.
