I needed to replace my dead camera last week. I was considering this sweet $29,995.00 Hasselblad H2D-39.
It's nice of them to shave that last five dollars off. Who doesn't love a bargain? It's 39 Mega-Pixels. Apparently you can photographh people's DNA with it.

The Terra Wind is an amphibious motor home. It can do 80 mph on the highway and about six knots on water.
It was created by Jim and Julie Giljam, of South Carolina, who showed off the vehicle at a recent RV show in the Washington area.
The amphibious RV is more like a luxury liner, with everything from a full-size Jacuzzi whirlpool bath to a big screen TV.
While the motor home is at home on the water, the Giljams say it's not for ocean cruises. It can only take waves up to about four feet high.
It also has a yacht-like sticker price. The Giljams say the Terra Wind has a base price of $850,000

I'm not up on the finer nuances of modern Japanese culture and social scenes, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say these guys probably have a lot of free time on Saturday night. Amazing. Be sure to stick it out for the ultimate combo of geek Japanese culture, yo-yos and breakdancing.

Camann's father, William, an anesthesiologist, and his mother, Rhonda, who have spent the weekend hovering on the sidelines, say they were a bit worried when their son began cubing two or three hours a day, concerned that his marks might suffer.
The latest drug crisis in our youth? Nah, just folks a little too into Rubik's Cube.
(Note: There don't appear to be too many Unofficial World Records posted for "Rubik-like" puzzles on speedcubing.com, so get crackin' and you too could see your name in lights.)

Jarvis Rockwell's toys plumb the emotional depths of culture, religion, and the artist's own relationship with his famous father, Norman Rockwell.
Yes, but is it art? Well, probably not, but all those toys sure are cool to look at! I dream of being able to have a room in my house, with large glass cases in which to display all my mexican masked-wrestler action figures. (via ArtKrush*)
*By the way ArtKrush is featuring my old studio neighbor from grad school, Su-en Wong. She's one of maybe four people on Earth who has actually paid money to own some of my art!

3. After I graduated I met a girl I really liked and asked her out. She sayed " Well I am really busy, but give me your number and I will call you". Well she did about 2 weeks later. She called me on a Saturday night around 6Pm and said " Hey, do you have any plans for tonight?" I said " No, I do not have anything to do tonight" She said "Good, I have a DATE tonight can you come over and babysit my son for me" Well that was the last time I ever spoke to her.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up...

The Dodge Tomahawk concept motorcycle was unveiled this week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The 500-horsepower Viper V-10 engine gives the vehicle a potential top speed of nearly 400 miles per hour.
...which I find is so practical...
The team of designers (all under 5'4") were too busy playing with action figures to make an appearance.

This toy was #1 on my daughter's Christmas list. So what the heck, although it has no educational value I figured it would be good for imaginative play. It wasn't until after she opened her gift and started playing with it that I realized that the toy may offer a more than sensational experience. The broomstick has cute sound effects and ***VIBRATES*** when they put it between their legs to fly. Come on---what were the creators of this toy thinking? She'll keep playing with the Nimbus 2000, but with the batteries removed.

We are moving ever so closer to the logical final phase of extreme sports, extreme jumping up and down. Extreme PogoBall is more or less that but with a plastic-ringed kickball between one's feet.
A related anecdote: Back in the later half of the 80s, my neighbor, Jeff Bailey, had a PogoBall. It wasn't very often that I got to bounce around on it. However, this one clear summer day I was given free reign over the PogoBall and gleefully bounced while Jeff looked on. Somewhere in the middle of my radical (for you youngin's, that's what we called "extreme" activities back in the 80s) routine, Jeff started to freak out saying, "Whoa, do you feel that?" Well, all I felt was the exhilaration of PogoBallin'. Apparently I had missed the strongest earthquake to hit Central Illinois in half a century. I now spend my days regretting ever setting foot on that accursed PogoBall. The end.

No this link isn't about post WWII German society, it's about toys! Really neat toy building blocks:
Made of fabricated stone in sandstone, slate, and terracotta, these silky smoothe blocks are archetecturally sound enough to build castles, cathedrals, fortified cities, and houses of all kinds...
I especially like wooden boxes in which they are packaged.
